50 miles of devastation

hurricane michael // october 10, 2018

As a response to the 50 miles of wreckage, 50 for Florida started in 2019 as a 50 Mile run to raise funds for local caregivers serving their hurricane-devasted communities.

This year, funds will go to Hurricane Ian recovery efforts

Recovery

The third most powerful hurricane to hit the United States on October 10, 2018. Hurricane Micheal wrecked a devastating 50-mile stretch of Florida coastline. The worst hit communities around Port Saint Joe faced a long, slow process of rebuilding and restoring.

CARING FOR THE CARETAKERS

While help flowed into the affected areas, we realized there was a group of critical caretakers struggling. Local pastors and church leaders were caring for their congregations while their own homes and church structures were gravely hit. In such circumstances, it can be difficult for churches and staff to remain. Funds raised by 50 for FL go directly to non-profit organizations in the Port Saint Joe area who support needs in the local community.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

run

The 50 for FL run focuses on accomplishing three things:

  1. raising funds for long and short term community recovery efforts

  2. raising awareness of local businesses and community needs

  3. celebrating and encouraging our progress

serve

We cannot put on an event like this without the hearts and hands of volunteers. If you’re willing and able to serve, we need your help!

give

Funds raised go to Hurricane Ian disaster relief efforts.
